Has anyone taken their Rav to its terminal velocity? I am curious what the vehicle is capable of doing, especially the V6. I have a V6 Sport but have not yet gone for a top speed run.

I did 115 w/ only like 4000rpm I am sure can go 130 or so easy

I tracked your IP address and determined that you are in law enforcement ... are you surreptitiously trying to bait Rav4'ers to fessing up to breaking the law ... huh huh !?!? :egad:  :egad:

hahaha ... kidding

Actually, our V-6 is quick enough getting up to the speed limit, I've stopped rushing anywhere these days, and have not tested the speed limiter on ours. Based on my gut, I have no doubt that the 6 cyl version will overcome wind resistance easily into the triple digits before the electronics slow it down.

V6 Top speed

Why take a chance trying to find out the top speed on the V6? To risky if you ask me. SUV's are not made to go fast...I'd be concerned of rolling over. :egad:
The only way I'd do it, is if my Rav had racing suspension.

There's no reason why the RAV couldn't cruise in perfect safety at super-legal speeds for hours. In fact pretty much any modern car is the same. Cars are built to world standards nowadays and not all of the countries in the world have ridiculous 55 or 65 mph speed limits either. 8)

Didn't have the RAV back then, but out in extremely rural areas of the midwest with nobody around for miles, perfectly flat roads, and large numbers of miles to your destination, being limited to 55 or even 65 mph is stupid. I cruised at 100+ for over an hour in my Maxima once, and its level of safety and suspension sophistication to soak up irregularities at high speed is far lower than that of the RAV's. Speed limits used to be what, 80 mph? And that was in the 60's and 70's before the fuel crisis on donkey cart suspension systems and inferior tire technology.

A RAV4 V6 would be right at home on the German autobahns cruising at 120-130 mph with all of the BMWs and Audis. That is, when you can actually get an opening on an unlimited section to go that fast in the first place. 8)

Welcome To the Rav4 Forums

How fast you want to go and why spend so much for gas to do so, IMO
I had the Rav up to 100MPH during when the Gas was 2 some thin a gallon.

I've hit 100mph without even realizing it before. It got there so quickly and smoothly, I looked at the speedo and was like DAMN!!!
I've had the same thing happen to me in my 4. One minute I'm cruising along at 80, next minute I look down and I'm doing 105. Didn't feel it. If I hadn't looked down I would have caught myself a speeding ticket easy and complained I wasn't speeding. Didn't notice putting my foot down any harder or nothing. It's happened a handful of times already and I've had to take my foot off the gas and say WHOA BABY!

My little girl got a lot of spunk in her.

I don't doubt for one minute that my RAV could easily do 130. I think the question is could I do that speed easily.
