I hit warp 7 ... could have made it to warp 8, but had to stop after hitting a flock of birds, now I need a new windshield ... cheap thing
Hey SeriousBlack ... admit it -- it's those extra coats of Zaino that give you the top speed advantage
yup, the Zaino helps reach those ludicrous speeds ... and it makes cleaning up bird messes a lot easier when they occur

the 4 will do 119. Top speed limiter makes sure of that..

I've hit 100mph without even realizing it before. It got there so quickly and smoothly, I looked at the speedo and was like DAMN!!!
I've had the same thing happen to me in my 4. One minute I'm cruising along at 80, next minute I look down and I'm doing 105. Didn't feel it. If I hadn't looked down I would have caught myself a speeding ticket easy and complained I wasn't speeding. Didn't notice putting my foot down any harder or nothing. It's happened a handful of times already and I've had to take my foot off the gas and say WHOA BABY!

My little girl got a lot of spunk in her.

I don't doubt for one minute that my RAV could easily do 130. I think the question is could I do that speed easily.

I've driven alot of cars over 130mph but the RAV has a pretty high cg for that kind of thing and a high cross section to catch side winds.
Not a good combo.
I'd pass on the heroics.
I would agree. Those desiring to test the top end speed may want to volunteer for an episode on the next "Jack Ass the Movie" sequel. These things are SUVs for pete's sake not a sports car that might be a bit more stable at speeds higher than 100mph.

I already told you what the top speed is. 129 for the 6 and 119 for the 4.

also, i dunno what the top speed is, but i'm not going to go and see, because if things go bad, not only are you possibly dead, you are NOT INSURED if you hurt someone else when doing a "speed test" here in BC

yet, 2 people (3 if you count seriousblack) report going faster than what you say is top speed, so i'm not convinced.

well if you don't believe me how about Toyota? Thats the OFFICIAL top speeds according to Toyota.. What do you think? I pulled numbers out of the air??

yup ,also happened to me...went to near 80 from 60 without noticing it! lol

ahh not true grasshopper. If one 'accidentally' fell off a 1000' cliff. it could reach 130 ..

4-cylinder RAV4s are in absolutely no danger of "accidentally" hitting 130 mph.

An all-knowing SAE engineer would calculate the coefficient of drag and atmospheric conditions at the cliff top and bottom and make sure to determine the amound of fuel as it relates the the gross weight of the falling body and verify the terminal velocity.
I'm not sure you'd get 190fps out of it.....

on tv last week they showed pictures of people pulled over by the police ( O.P.P. ) on the long week-end. They showed 2 different RAVs that were pulled over and both were 2.4's. Those 2.4 guys are such speeders. :D

it only takes one person going faster than 129 to prove conclusively that 129 is not the top speed, regardless of what Toyota thinks might be the top speed or intends to be the top speed. i mean, logically what you are saying is that the two people who say they went 135 are lying or have inaccurate measurement equipment.

the top speed dertermined by Toyota is way more reputiable then what some 'joe' claims. You are not thinking straight.. You sound like a ricer with a hyundai who claims his car has 50 more hp then what the factory says..

and psst.. a 5 % inaccurate speedo at 129 mph is 135.. Do you really think the speedo are dead accurate?? get a clue

That's why I was asking if they were GPS verified or not to account for speedo inaccuracy, and if the runs were done in two directions or not to account for any slight hill or wind. Even a small wind of just a few mph can make a significant difference in top speed runs. Most people on the Internet simply cannot account for all of this which is why top speed reports tend to be all over the place. It only takes one person claiming a faster top speed than "stated" to show that they might have just hit a more favorable situation than average and got a slight boost.

I bet you the 129 mph Toyota spec (if that's what it is) is on level ground, zero wind, and SAE standard conditions.
