I searched up and down this forum and couldn't find a very simple answer to this question: What was the last year that manual transmission was offered in any configuraton of Rav4?

I'm actually looking for an MT in a 4 cyl AWD and want to know what is the last year I can be searching for.. Thanks everyone.

And by that point, Toyota was already moving away from manual transmissions in the North American market - only 10-20% of RAVs by then were manual trannies (I forget the exact numbers). So, if you're looking for a late model 4.2 with a manual transmission it will definitely be harder to find than an equivalent automatic.

Thanks everyone for your responses!

I figured that finding a manual will be tough to find, but I'm not planning to purchase one for a while. I've given myself anywhere between now and end of the year, so I have lots of time to look for just the right one :)

Was leather or heated seats an option in 04/05? Want to make sure I'm not barking up the wrong tree. My ideal Rav4:
- 2004/05
- Not White, Black, or Red (what other colours were available? Silver, Blue?)
- 5 Speed
- Leather (was this available?)
- Sunroof
- Fully loaded preferably
- Lower km (less than 150k km)
- AWD

Anything else I didn't specifically mention, I'm not too concerned about (alloy wheels, fog lights, etc.)

Having said that - anyone maybe selling theirs that fit this profile?

Oh, heck, that seems doable. :)

This should help with the color choices: http://www.rav4world.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1977&highlight=color+colour

Leather and heated seats were options for that year, but I think the popularity/availability (especially in a manual transmission) varied significantly by region. Since I don't have leather/heated seats, I'm not 100% positive, but I seem to remember that the 2 options were always paired together? So, if you get one, you get the other.

Also, if you aim for an "L" package instead of the base or "S"/sport, you'll end up with the leather wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, sunroof and a pretty fully loaded car by default. The leather seat part was not an automatic *default* option on the L package that I know of.

So, to get around to your question, except for leather/heated seats, I don't think you will have a lot of trouble finding the manual 04/05 you want. And you could always go aftermarket on the leather if that part is hard to find.

What part of the country are you in?

I was just doing some searches to find out sales figures to support this statement but couldn't find one. Does anyone know of a good link for this, or other sales statistics of RAV4 options in different models over the years?

Thanks for the link on the colours. Looks like Everglade, Flint, or Titanium in the "L" package I'll be looking for. L I guess is for Limited? Sometimes I see ads that say B or C package, higher letter = better options package?

I'm in Vancouver - heated seats probably won't be as common here as out east unfortunately, but like you said, I could get a set used or aftermarket. It's not top on the list of requirements.

Iiiiiii'm actually not sure what a "C" package would be. My first assumption is that "B" is for base, but since I don't know what C is, I'm going to bet I'm wrong. ;) Perhaps it is the Canadian-only "Chili" edition I've heard about...?

In the US, the "L" package has a big capital letter "L" on the back of the car, the Sport package has a big "S", and the base package has nothing back there.

Hey!! What about Spectra Blue Mica? (see my album :) )
It's purdy. (IMO, of course)

Yeah, the C package was the highest level, and I think the only one with leather. It's not the same as the Chili, which fits somewhere in between the B and C.

Trim levels, standard features and options were different between the US and Canada. On the 2005 Canadian model there were several upgrade packages:

1. "B" package - Colour-Keyed Bumpers, Bodyside Mouldings, Roof Rack, Soft Tire Cover, Retained Accessory Power, Power Door Locks, Power Tailgate Lock, Power Remote-Control Mirrors, Power Windows, Keyless Entry System, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Front & Rear Splash Guards

2. "Chili Plus" package - Package ‘B’, plus Unique 16" Aluminum Alloy Wheels, Wheel Locks, Hood Scoop, Sport Style Front Grille, Colour-Keyed Heated Power Mirrors, Panasonic 200 Watt AM/FM/CD/MP3 Player, Title Display, Removable Face Plate, Audio Remote-Control, ‘CHILI’ Exterior Decals, ‘CHILI’ Floor Mats, Privacy Glass, Power Tilt & Slide Moonroof

3. "Plus" package - Package ‘B’, plus Antilock Braking System (ABS) w/Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Alloy Wheels w/P235/60R16 Tires, Wheel Locks, Styled Splash Guards, Colour-Keyed Fender Flares & Door Handles, Privacy Glass, Fog Lamps, Colour-Keyed Heated Power Mirrors, Hard Spare Tire Cover, Leather Seat Surfaces, Heated Front Seats, Synthetic Leather Door Trim, Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel & Shift Knob

4. "Limited" package - In addition to the Plus Package: Power Moonroof, Rear Spoiler, Engine Immobilizer, Limited Badging

Sounds like you're looking for the Limited package to get leather and sunroof.

Fantastic info! Thanks everyone again for sharing. When I find the Rav4 I need, I'll be sure to post back! :D

a fellow Vancouverite! Good luck with your search. I saw a manual Rav4 a few months ago at Richmond automall. Unfortunately, wife wants auto and brand new. :( Oh well, at least she let me chose the Sport model over the Base (which is what she was gonna get)

We have 4.3 ravs with manual gearboxses here in Costa Rica... All rav models have manual transmission options, but it depends on local availability.
I think I remember somebody mentioning when the 4.3 came out that one or more of the central american or caribbean nations had the magic sweet spot of manual transmission availability on a V6. I just tried to look at Toyota sites for Mexico, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico to no avail (kinda hard when you don't read Spanish). Maybe others will have more luck in researching this.

Which countries have the 4.3 available in a V6 manual transmission? Are there any? I wonder if there is any way to nudge Toyota into figuring out that there is a market for it in North America. Granted, in the current economic climate, I don't blame Toyota, or any car maker for that matter, for going the 80/20 route of least resistance.
