We just bought one in Pyrite Mica and keep getting comments on how much people like the color. It's fairly unusual for Rav4's as I haven't seen many in this color and like it that much more because it's rare. We just picked up our car on Friday so I haven't had a chance to find out how dirt sticks to it but I'm hoping it will be better than black. I love black but think you need a garage to keep it clean all the time, sitting outside it gets spotted within a few days. Anyways, I'm a fan of the color but probably biased as we bought.

This one one of the initial choices before I picked black. The pyrite mica is a pretty nice color, unusual as I haven't seen many cars on the road with it.
The photos dont actually show how they look like in real life. It also depends on the lighting. In the photos from the toyota site it looks almost greyish graphite but the one I saw at my dealer was more of a brownish bronze color.

Same here, we just picked up ours on friday. Also got a lot of complements about the color. Initially wanted black at first but they only had pyrite. I have a black tc and notice that black cars get very dirty if you don't clean it often. Happy with the choice so far. I only saw one other pyrite rav4 on the road so far, but I've seen many black ones. It's kinda cool to have a unique color. It stands out.

We (my wife and I) wanted ours in Pyrite Mica and no other. As they didn't have any 2009's left in that colour (Limited 2WD) we are now having to wait for the 2010 and it just can't get here soon enough.

As another member mentioned, the colour shown on the toyota sites are extremely deceiving. Its more of a dark olive brown, it does not resemble any shade of grey. In words it doesn't sound as appealing but once you see one in person you can tell it just looks very nice and classy.

We just got a 2009 Limited V6 4X4 In pyrite mica. We hadn't even considered it until we saw it on our first test drive. Then it became our first choice. I've only seen one other on the road in that color and it does hide dirt well. Funny thing is there was a little tag attached to one of the "keys" with the VIN number and a bar code. Up in the corner it said "color-Brown". I guess they don't run around at the factory calling it Pyrite Mica.

My wife and I just got a pyrite mica v6 limited two weeks ago and it is the color we would only consider after we saw a base model Rav4 in a dealership's car lot. Well, Metallic gray is also our favorite but it's only available on Sport edition which only comes with run-flat tire option...
Just like most of dealers told me, it's a rare find color because it's a new color available since 2009 model. Not sure 2010 Rav4 will still have that color as an option or not...
The motor vehicle specialist in our local DMV office looked at "Pyrite Mica" in color field of my VIN inspection form and had no clue what color it really means. I told her it's "dark brown", sort of... I think. :D

We also bought a pyrite mica V6 limited a couple of weeks ago. It was hard to tell exactly what the color looked like until we saw it in person. I'd describe it as a medium metallic brown. It looks like it won't show dust or dirt too badly and the color goes well with the tinted privacy glass.

Love the color! My friend bought a 2009 RAV4, V6, Front-W Drive in Pyrite-Mica on the same day (Memorial Day) that I bought my Blizzard Pearl RAV4. Pyrite-Mica does a great job at hiding dust, dirt and splash-up. Blizzard Pearl not so much with the splash-up, but I still love my white Xena baby. Cheers! Snocat

Just purchased a 2009 in this color. In under a week, I've already received comments from neighbors/co-workers on its classy but understated hue.

It does change color a lot based on what dominates its surroundings. Seems to be almost gray-brown on cloudy days and brighter bronze in the sun.

After purchasing it, I drove back from Detroit to Chicago in a major snowstorm (so add in a midwest "salt storm" also) and amazing it really does not show the winter grime too much.

I have a feeling this will be a more popular choice in 2010, as in 2009 it wasn't available much until later in the model year (based on the VINs I have seen in this color).

It's certainly an intriguing colour - like others have mentioned before, it can change hues depending on the lighting (and cleanliness, I suppose). It can be a very classy tone.

To my eyes though, it's the kind of colour that an older person might buy. I think it says "retiree who would drive a Buick if GM weren't circling the drain". I certainly don't wish to sound age-ist, because God knows we all end up there, and usually a lot sooner than we expect. But colours like black, dark grey and red held a great deal more appeal for me than the Pyrite Mica when I was making my purchasing decision. I think they better accentuate the "sport" part of the SUV aesthetic on the RAV4.

That being said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What do I know? If you like it, I couldn't be happier for you, because you got a great vehicle and a look you like.
