We're hoping to hear about specific booster seats that do, or do not, fit well in an '06 RAV.

We've been looking at the Britax Frontier, and the Graco Nautilus, because we would prefer to have the option of the 5-point harness.

We would consider the Britax Parkway, or a Graco TurboBooster.

This seats appear to be our best possible choices due to the safety ratings.

Ultimately, we are trying to find that best combination of super-safe seat, and super-awesome fit in the vehicle that seat will be used in.

If you have any success stories, or particular seats to avoid for this year and make of Toyota, we would love to hear back from you.

Many thanks.

You can't go wrong with Britax. We have the Advocate 70 CS in our 2008 RAV4 and the Boulevard 70 CS in our 2005 Accord and they fit perfectly in the vehicles. The fact that my son falls asleep in those often proves that they're comfortable.

When you say booster seat, I take it your child if FF? if they are still RF, stay away from safety first the angle and space that thing takes up makes no room for passenger. My dad bought one for our son in his 08 rav. We have the Britax BLVD CS in ours (he is still RF) but that thing is fantastic when set up it doesn't move nor does it take up lots of room. Anyway another vote for Britax. When our 2nd child is born we will be buying another Britax.

The Britax Boulevard as well as the Advocate can be configured both Forward Facing and Rear Facing and can accommodate a child up to 70 pounds.

I know, which makes them even beter. I'm just not sure if the OP is looking for a booster seat only or a "car" seat.
Oh right. Gotcha.

Paying extreme attention to your child's weight and facing requirements (as I dont see age or weight), I have two Britax Frontiers 85 SICT for my son. One in my wifes 07 rav (Onyx)and one in my 11 Sonata (Red).

I found them super easy to install and appreciate the pull straps for the LATCH versus the self adjusting CRAP that is out on the market. They seem comfortable for my son who is currently 45 pounds and 45 inches and he has been in it since about 39 pounds.

The cup holders, while gimmicky, do help contain some of the clutter in the car by keeping cups nearby versus bonking around on the floor. The newer models with the SICT are easier to adjust the head restraint as your child grows. You dont have to pull out the seat, you can just use an adjuster tensioner and move it up and the shoulder straps come with it. The only think I dont like about it is the simple straps used to affix the cloth covering. The loops are narrow and the "hooks" on the seat are not very deep so sometimes putting my son in and tightening up the straps, those come loose. Not a safety issue, but an annoyance.

My daughter who just hit 28 pounds at the age of 2 was just turned around last month to FF. She has been RF up until then. Try to keep the youngster RF as long as you can.

As soon as my daughter meets the requirements, I will be getting them for her too, or at least and equivalent. To me car seats are my kids helmets.

I have a Gracco Turbobooster in my Tacoma that my daughter has used for a few years now. She does not need the back anymore. With the back on the seat, we had to help her fasten the seatbelt - she was unable to always pull it through the seatbelt guide.

She also had a Britax Roundabout. We used the Britax seat in the Rav and in a Camry before that. IMO, Britax is probably the best seat made. They fit well (at least the Roundabout model did). Are easy to adjust, and seem comfortable for the kid.

If you can afford the Britax, that would be my choice.

Thank you to everyone for your input.

I'm still a bit confused over terminology, so my apologies if my question wasn't clear. We want a seat with a harness that can later be used as a booster/a seat to use with the car seatbelt.

(Btw, I intended to more include details on my child: almost 6, around 44" tall, and 43 pounds.)

Thanks again.

The Britax Frontier can do what you described above. Your kid has the same stature as my son. It works well if the money is available as they are not cheap.
