I read that sport mode changes transmission shift points. Has anybody tested if this actually improves 0-60 times?
Yes, the 4 cylinder 914 was made by VW and has a VW engine (411 engine). But I have the six cylinder. The body for the six, when it came off the Karman body line, was shipped to Porsche where a 911 running gear (911T engine and front suspension) was installed.yes, I remember the Porsche 914 was sold as a volkswagen in Europe initially, if I am not mistaken
Not a problem, IMO, as long as the discussion is somewhat related to the thread title -- 0 to 60 times, i.e. fast cars. Another moderator may disagree. This thread has gone off topic. Not saying right or wrong, other forum's admin would have closed this and delete the off topic ones.
I understand that. But if I have ECO turned off I may not want or need to view how efficiently I might be driving, even if it's presented in a friendly manner. In other vehicles (Toyota included) the efficiency progress bar is not visible if I turn ECO off.it’s supposed to indicate that you are still driving in an eco friendly way even if you aren’t in eco mode.
My rav4 prime is hella fast. Not as fast as a tesla, but it is by far the quickest car I've ever owned. And that includes the acura rsx type s I had many moons ago. Additionally, the heavy battery lowers the center of gravity, making it hug the corners better than any suv has a right to do. I love this car. But yeah... It's no prosch 😉The RAV4, any model, has never been designed as a sports car. That said, it has quite enough umph to be a rather fast SUV. The plugin hybrid in particular, followed by the hybrid AWD that has a slight advantage over the FWD due to the second motor. My suggestion: buy a Porsche or Audi that will break after let’s say a year or two, maybe even sooner.
Hugging the corners? That's like on edge of rubber coming off the rims.making it hug the corners better than any suv
We considered a Macan prior to buying our Rav, and there is no comparison between the two. A Macan has grip levels equivalent to high end sports cars from 15 years ago. The ultimate cornering grip is easily 20% better than any Rav model, and the composure at that higher cornering limit is much better and more sophisticated in behavior than the Rav. It’s why it costs about twice as much.My rav4 prime is hella fast. Not as fast as a tesla, but it is by far the quickest car I've ever owned. the 2024 RAV4 Limited is an Oompa Lumpa. Slow as snail, no oomph. It struggles going up hills, sometimes, even sputters. The RAV4, any model, has never been designed as a sports car. Maybe, when compared to a Lambo Countach or Dodge Hellcat...but that's apples to oranges. When you compare a gas model 5th gen RAV to its similar competitors (non-turbo Mazda CX5, Honda CRV, Ford Bronco Sport & Escape (3 cyl)) it is much faster. I have had no trouble going up the steepest grades in the Cascade Mountains at 80 MPH or more in my XLE AWD. If yours "sputters" maybe you should stick in a bottle of Techron and use Top Tier gas.the 2024 RAV4 Limited is an Oompa Lumpa. Slow as snail, no oomph. I, too, had no problem going over Donner pass in California when returning from my son's wedding. Was able to easily keep up with traffic going the speed limit plus. Yes, I have the hybrid, but I'm sure that the HV battery was well depleted and running only on the ICE for that long of a grade.I have had no trouble going up the steepest grades in the Cascade Mountains at 80 MPH or more in my XLE AWD.
The gas RAV4, CRV, CX-5 are pretty much the same. Would not say much faster. Unless meant vs the Fords??Maybe, when compared to a Lambo Countach or Dodge Hellcat...but that's apples to oranges. Different sources quote different 0-60 times. Here are some I saved over the years. That 8 sec 0-60 MPH time for the gas 5th gen RAV seems a lot faster than many other comparable SUVs to me. I add the Subaru Crosstrek and other Subaru models and several GM and Buicks and Nissan SUVs, VW and Jeeps as being obviously slower than than a gas 5th gen.The gas RAV4, CRV, CX-5 are pretty much the same. To each his own. The 5th gen RAV actually pulled more Gs on the skid pad than the CX5 so despite some reviewers subjective claims that the Mazda handles better, the RAV is objectively better handling. I prefer the RAV which puts out more horsepower and is faster 0-60 MPH and 1/4 mile than the non-turbo Mazda. I also like the RAV body styling better than the Mazda.having driven all of them would pick the CX-5 as the better gas SUV
Back in the day I had a 69 350 Venture. Took all the weight out, back seat etc.. Put a cam in, 4:10 gears in the back. Top speed ended up being horrible but would do 0-60 in 4 seconds. Loved that car. That was when I was 17.I'm just saying, once you've driven fast vehicles anything else seems a bit, ehmmm.
