hi there..

this is with reference to a 2003 Rav4 currently running in Dubai in the Middle East. (my dad's car). Something that we noticed during the winter months where the temperature hardly goes below 9 degrees Centigrade... the car keeps stalling while in motion. This problem did start in 2004, but subsided soon after... the problem recurred again during december last year... and has been stalling on a more greater frquency. On taking the car to Al Futtaim, the official distributers of Toyota in Dubai and the handle all maintainence of the car as well... they say that this has been a problem with the RAV4 for a long period of time... and is mainly due to improper mixing of the fuel air mixture damaging the digital mechanism of the engine and they have quoted an amount of 4500 Dhs... I was just wonndering if anybody else has had such issues... and if so, wat measures did u take to rectify the problem... and is there any way to bring this up with the Toyota manufacturers.

The car has been well maintained over the years... with regular servicing and maintainence. This January, the odometer reads ja little over 63,000km. Would appreciate to hear comments about this.

regards

sounds like a sensor problem. someone had a problem like this & it turned out to be the engine temp sensor intermittently giving a wrong input to the ecu (saying the engine was very cold) so more fuel was injected to compensate & this kills the engine..

something you could ask them to look at before they start ripping your engine appart! what will they replace for the 4,500 dhs they'll charge you?

good day?
did the dealership told you about codes? they will be able to tell you about that after they inspect the diagnostics in your engine? do you have engine check light in your dashboard?
