Hello everyone,

My mom is letting go of her daily commuter and i am trying to decide whether its worth it to pick it up and turn it into a light off road truck.

I plan on putting bigger tires and the OME kit.

I have never done any off roading and I want to try it out with this RAV4.

Is the fact that it's an automatic a problem?

The automatic transmission is not a problem.... look at this thread:

I have looked at this extensively along with all the other build threads and I am happy to say I finally started working getting my Rav4 off road capable.

I bought 235/70/R16 Cooper Discoverers and recently added the TEMA 40mm spacers all around.

I am looking forward to taking it off-roading once I have my alignment issue figured out.

When I put my 40mm spacers on, I took it to a shop to have an alignment done. The tech said that all 4 corners were still within spec so the alignment wasn't done. I've been keeping an eye on my tire wear, and after maybe 3,000 miles, the tires still look perfectly fine. No funny wear happening.

post up some pics and the work youve done on it ! :)

As Scotty said, you 100% need an alignment when youve lifted it. Best thing to do to not chew out your tyres , before you go for the alignment , get some camber bolts. Slap them in and do them up.Then go for an alignment
this will allow the tyre shop to actually fix your camber once you lift the RAV
