Nice finds Kelly!

As for understanding Japanese... there's always Babelfish! :D

Not the best translation, I'm sure, but much better than nothing...

One thing I'm very curious about is the mention of a "CVT" transmission -- this was never mentioned in the slew of information that came out of Frankfurt.

There's also a slightly different article on the same website -- a little more text, but same photos:

And apparently, the RAV4 is not available to the press on the show floor, because it doesn't appear in their Toyota gallery. Maybe a big press unveiling later in the week?

Here's a small article and photoset from the Frankfurt show that I hadn't seen before...

Find it strange that at the Tokyo Motorshow that Toyota Japan are calling the RAV4 a Concept vehicle but without the fancy wheels, fancy lighting and paintjob that is the new RAV4.

The CVT gearbox would not suprise me but it will probably only for the JDM models. I enlarged the picture of the gear selector.

Looks like for the JDM Toyota are putting in a 2.4L engine. Previously like Europe the RAV4 was only available with a 2.0L engine, I really wished Toyota Europe had put the 2.4L engine in to replace the old 2.0L engine for the 2006 RAV4.

Like the side indicators in the side mirrors (This was a accessory on the 2nd Generation RAV4 in Japan previously).

Not much more info but a nice flashy flash web site from Toyota Japan on the Toyota's at Tokyo Motorshow:-

I saw this mini-site before they added the extra content, so I'm glad you rediscovered it for me! :)
They happen to make beautiful desktop wallpapers, although at an oddball resolution due to my notebook's screen size and the results of cutting and pasting. Not sure what the max res on the Flash presentation is, but I'll try going higher when I get home.

Response.jp finally has some photos of the new RAV4 at the Tokyo Motor Show... A little more detail visible in some of the shots, notably the "manumatic" transmission selector -- they mentioned it was a CVT in another article, but I don't think CVT's offer that feature since they don't have gears.

Not much reason to Babel Fish it, unless you really want to read the blip of accompanying text...
