Hi guys,
I noticed a couple drop s of oil and checked under the car to see a leak coming from left side of the rear dif .
I am wondering how big a deal this is,I suspect a seal and if so has anyone done this at home?
Is it expensive or should I just take it to my mechanic?

Any advice appreciated

The breather valve is possibly stuck from road crud or rusted. If the breather valve can't move up and down this forces the hot air to blow through the seal instead which causes a leak. Some members were able to free the breather valve using WD40 or penetrating oil. It is located on top of the differential and is difficult to reach due to very little room. You need a long straw attach to your aerosol can. Use duct tape to hold it in place so you don't lose that straw.

If you can't free the breather valve you may need get a new one which will be expensive since the rear differential needs to be dropped. Another alternative is to mod the fill plug and make a new breather valve as mentioned here. I plan to do this mod soon when I have the time.
