So my Rav4 has the CEL, VCS and one other, can't remember off the top of my head. I used my reader and it's just a P0606 ECM fault. No other codes comes up. Is this a generic could be anything code or is it just a bad computer? I don't really want to replace it and find out there is something else causing the code. So far it is running just fine. I cleared the code and after about about 10 miles or so of driving it comes back on.I disconnected the battery for about a half and hour to try to "reset" the ECM but that didn't do anything. If anyone has any idea I would love to hear them. Thanks.

P0606 is an ECM problem. Leads to misfire, flashing lights and the CEL.

I suggest you inspect all of the wiring coming into the ECM to see if there is any critter damage/corrosion.

After that, it would be DVOM and scope time to check powers/grounds and to see if the correct signals are sent out from the ECM. If the P&G are good, you may be looking at a new/recon ECM - this will probably need flashing/programming, so get a clued up shop to do this for you.

thanks bigphul555. however, the car operates normally - there are no issues of sluggishness or operation at all. i have driven almost 4000 miles post the first instance of this issue. toyota dealers are not ready to reflash unless it qualifies for ecm errors with other errors. they simply want to replace it with a new unit of $1.5k (incl labour) and then determine next steps.

Thanks for the update, i was not clear from the first post that you have run 4k without any performance issues. If it is running fine, try clearing the codes to see if they come back. As you say, the stealership just wants to load the parts canon and commence firing - that is how they make money.

If the code comes back after clearing, but the car runs fine, I would still check out the full wiring associated with PCM to see if there is any obvious issues.
