Though it bears a resemblance to the outgoing model year, it has nowhere near as quirky a design as the first-gen Santa Fe, and in some ways, it almost looks like an updated version of the first-gen RAV4 (though it definitely still looks like the old Santa Fe from behind).

This one also adds third row seats, has a DVD navigation system, allows MP3 and mobile phone inputs, "custom driver" settings (seats, steering wheel, maybe pedals) and choice of 3.3L and 3.8L V6's. If Hyundai is true to their previous form, side and side curtain airbags will be standard equipment.

Compared to the extended length US 2006 RAV4, it is 77mm longer for overall length and 33mm for wheelbase, 75mm wider, and 46mm taller.

So going by a quick scan of their information, the Santa Fe appears to be going upsize and upscale.

Yes, this is true. They came out with the Tucson last year as their smaller SUV.
Yes, I know that. But the Tuscon is the size of the old RAV4 and the old Santa Fe was the size of the CRV -- the new Santa Fe is now about the size of a Honda Pilot (a little bigger than the current Highlander).
