Hi,

I just got a 2008 Sport Rav4. There are a few areas on the body which are pretty scratched up and I want to replace or repaint the isolated areas.

What is the best option to replace/repair the attached photo.

Thanks

Is it just scuffed or actual scratches that you can feel with your fingernail?

That piece comes off, and you can have the dealer body shop paints & clear coat to the colour code on the sticker located on the underside of the hood. Probably $100, reattach and you're done.

Definitely you can feel the scratches.

Okay, I will take it to a dealer body shop

I thought there might be a way to order these trim pieces online and attach them myself.

It would be cheaper if you can do the work yourself. Just sand, fill, prime, paint, and clear coat. Just buy a spray can of paint and clear coat.

You can buy the fender flares but then you still need to paint it.

I would try to sand it down and fill any minor imperfection and then prime it to see how good it looks. It is the easiest part to fix since it is a small area unlike a door or hood that is a big area.

you can order them online but they'd be expensive. If my memory is correct, they come in painted or not.

As others have mentioned, remove, take it to a shop and have them spray it. Alternatively you could call one of those mobile paint specialist to come work on it. We have some good ones locally. Not sure where you are located but the dealer I used to work at used Colorworks extensively. They were good!

I would just buy some colour-coded paint from teh dealer for $10.
Dab some on my finger, rub it into the scratches and wipe off the excess, let it dry and then wax in a few days. No one will notice these scratches but you!

Of course, make sure it is not just paint transfer from the thing that scratched the RAV; in that case, a very fine polish like Scratch X 2.0 would do.

I just checked it does come painted. So if that is the case get it online from some place cheap like toyotaonlineparts.com for $49 + $19 shipping to Canada = $68 USD.
