Hey all,
The other day as I was commuting on the freeway to work, my power steering warning light suddenly came on. Shortly thereafter, a few other warning lights popped up (airbag, ABS, brake, 4WD, and battery). Luckily I was close and was able to make it to work fine, but after turning the car off and trying to restart it, it would not turn on (although would click).
Replaced the battery, which kept the car going for a couple more commutes, but then the same issue reappeared mid-commute. Any ideas on what might be going on? Fearing that it’s a problem with the alternator, but hoping there might be an easier (and cheaper) fix I can try before I tow it to the shop. Thanks in advance.
Additional info: Tried replacing the ALT-S, fuse #5 in box one, no luck. Checked wiring and ground connections for issues but couldn’t find any. Jumped car, started briefly but couldn’t keep charge. Now car is completely dead, no dash lights or anything. Weirdly, when I tried replacing the new battery that was completely drained with the old battery that still had 12.3V charge, almost immediately after connecting the terminals the battery was completely drained, as well.
