I just got my 2015 RAV4 XLE and noticed a lot of tape weights were applied to balance the stock alloy rims.

I counted a maximum of 11 on one wheel and a minimum of 8 on another. The other two are in between. The tires mounted are 17" Michelin Latitude Tour, so they are not abnormally big or heavy tires.

Is it normal to have so many tape weight applied right out of the factory?

8 weights on one wheel seems excessive. 11 weights on one wheel is totally ridiculous! It sounds to me like the tire person didn't know what they were doing.

I have a lot on mine too but I've never really counted. They seem to all be centered on one spot and not spread out around the rim so I don't think it's bad balancing. I have no shimmy or shake so it's a correct balance.

I'm gonna check sometime though and see how many I actually have.
