We purchased a New 2017 Rav4 SE today. We had them transfer the cross bars on the roof rack from our old 2014 Rav4. When we test drove the 2017 it was fine with no noise. On the ride home after the crossbars were transferred it has a loud whistling noise. At first I thought it was the moonroof. But after checking this I believe it is the roof rack cross ties causing the noise. We called Toyota they suggested moving the bars further back. We had these on the 2014 Rav4 (no moonroof) and had no noise, Has anyone had an similar experience with the noise from the roof rack? Any thoughts woud be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that the cross bars were put on backwards? My crossbars look like an airfoil on a wing, with the thick part facing forward. I know that if you turn them around so the thin part is facing forward, they will be noisy.
