I always thought Safety Connect (SOS) service was provided through the DCM, if so it may have one, it's just not shown on the display, or there's another device that provides the cellular connection, or it uses your phone? So curious question, my car is a Canadian '20 XLEh with a 7" touch screen. As far as I can tell I don't have DCM on my car, wondering if this is a premium feature on the larger screens.
Not that I'm complaining, but the auto time update sounds nice because my clock losses a minute monthly. I went into the hidden service menu and other users have values there and data in the GPS field - my signal and GPS field is blank, and I have no icon with DCM in the home screen.
That makes total sense, and you're probably right that SOS is provided through DCM.I always thought Safety Connect (SOS) service was provided through the DCM, if so it may have one, it's just not shown on the display, or there's another device that provides the cellular connection, or it uses your phone?
Doesnt the DCM "require" replacement after 3 years? I wonder if it will behave the same as ganking it from the system? If so many people, including me, are expecting to just "pass" on replacement and move along. I really hope Toyota isnt making that a required replacement.Fair, but there's also a fair bit of "what the heck?" in engineering decisions. To the extent that they tied the DCM directly to one of the audio channels for fault-tolerance when the 12v system fails is smart. But to that same extent... if the DCM ever fries, I lose audio just because it's a passthrough? That feels pretty silly.
C'est la vie. The bad guys' data mining wins again...
The Sep 2018 pricing document is the only place I've seen a service and labor charge listed for Dynamic Nav and the Rav4 isn't listed, the 2020 document doesn't list anything related other than Destination Assist.Doesnt the DCM "require" replacement after 3 years? As I understand it, from when I bought my 2019 LE Hybrid, the Entune, driving behavior recording and SOS features were free for three years and after that you had to pay for it. I don't think the DCM unit needs replacing - just the account that pays for it. I disabled my DCM and don't miss it at all. I have made it through driving in the U.S. for 50 years and was able to get through any breakdown or accident without shouting Mayday!Doesnt the DCM "require" replacement after 3 years? I dont care about the SOS. Wife doesnt like the Nav and uses her Pixel. I hate the data scraping. As I understand it, from when I bought my 2019 LE Hybrid, the Entune, driving behavior recording and SOS features were free for three years and after that you had to pay for it. Weird attachment...you getting your telework time in as a fed employee too!?

You pulled the device but left the fuse? There was a report in this thread that pulling the fuse cause radio issues and other problems.
Yeah...popping it out doesnt bother me. Losing the radio functions does. Ill eagerly await the feedback of your 1-3 and 2-4 bypass test.Colonel,
See my update #23 above that I hope will fix the right speaker issue. I have not yet gotten around to the speaker rewire at the DCM but will post results when it's complete. FYI the DCM is pretty easy to get to, although you would not know it by looking at the dash in front of where it resides behind the HVAC controls.

Same idea just different connector? If the DCM is removed the G9 is "mateless"; correct?FWIW: Restoring RH audio with DCM disconnected could be accomplished by jumpering between pins 2&5 and 3&6 of G9 DCM connector...
Yes, although I have not tested and not sure this won't throw out any error codes...Same idea just different connector? If the DCM is removed the G9 is "mateless"; correct?
No sim...you need a DCM programmed for your region. At least there is a simple solution for those feeling the need to deactivate DCM...just move overseas!Hello guys, I own a toyota rav4 xle hybrid 2020, I bought it from Canada, I live in Iraq, dcm does not work. Can I change the service to the networks in my country? Is there a SIM card that I can change
