Hi all,

Has anyone experienced the inside of their lift gate plastic cracking? I bought my 2020 limited maybe 4 months ago. I don’t drive it much and don’t ever put anything crazy in my trunk and it has already cracked. Something of course must have hit it, but should it be that easy to crack? I can replace the part myself but if I do so, should I expect it to break again? As someone who doesn’t ever have much cargo, it’s concerning and I would love to hear from others that use it more than I do.
Thanks in advance!!

Nope, I’ve squeezed coolers, baby strollers, and even my entire Yakima 18 skybox inside. All instances where I ‘nudged’ the lift gate more than I should on this fragile piece with no cracking, just dents and warping that is easily fixed with a heat gun.

Love when Toyota parts break on their own, one of life’s greatest mysteries 🍻 only option you got is live with it or get it replaced at the dealer, doubt you can get it covered under warranty as a manf. defect.

My auto lift gate has hit stuff trying to close and it didn't damage anything. Anyone else use your car besides you? That pic looks like someone tried to force the gate to close with something in the way.

Wow. I've had tons of stuff in my trunk including too much stuff where the door won't close and no cracks.
I've even pried that piece off to do mods to the lights and add some insulation. I practically punch the piece back into place with no holes.
