Hi All,
2006 4WD : is it ALL TIME all wheel drive or something more sofisticated? Where can I read about this?

I'm still a little confused ... at speeds above 25mph it's in front wheel drive until it detects slippage (then it automatically and temporarily goes in 4wd as needed), correct?

no. Its fwd untill needed at any speed EXCEPT upon start off where it is 55/45 (I think If I remember right) or unless you lock the 4wd.
