I just installed a new 5th gear per the instructions in another thread on this page, and purchased a new 5th gear, bearings, and transmission hub sleeve via my toyota dealer. I did not replace the transmission clutch hub that fits in the sleeve as it looked to be in good shape.

The new parts I installed did nothing to fix the 5th gear slipout problem.

Do I need to replace the transmission clutch hub as well to fix this problem? Has anyone had any success or heard of any success with this repair without replacing the Hub part?

Thanks, love this forum and all the helpful information from everyone!

The Part numbers I used are:
33336 - 42040 (5th gear)
33395 - 42012 (Syncro Sleeve)
90364 - 28013 (Bearing)

Can anyone verify if these are the right parts for 2000 4WD 4 door? toyotapartsonline.com verified that they fit my VIN, but I"m not sure if they are the 'old' parts before toyota updated the parts to solve this problem.

I've already bought one wrong set of parts before this.

I've read that Toyota upgraded the parts to solve this problem, and if you have any of the old 5th gear set parts with the new parts, it won't solve the problem. I'm speculating that this might explain why my problem isn't solved, because I still have the 'old' hub. Anyone know if this is in fact what toyota did? and if so, where can I find the correct updated parts?

This is unreal how complicated it is. I found the TSB for vehicles '97-'99, not for my vehicle though. About to give up all together.

In February, 2003 Toyota revised the 97-99 TSB to include the 2000 model. I have a fuzzy copy if you need it.

The numbers I have are:
33393-12022 Hub
33395-12021 Sleeve
33336-12061 5th gear
90364-28023 bearing, roller (for 5th gear)
33151-28020 retainer

The TSB does list your 90364-28013 bearing, as the old part number.

These numbers are for the US and may be different in some locations. You don't list your location
