quick description.
gf's rav4 overheats
no hot air comes out when heater is on
when a/c is on...temp drops
when you rev it up to 2k+ rpm...temp drops

this is what was done and replaced in order
flushed radiator as best i could
replaced the following
-thermostat
-timing belt
-water pump
-radiator cap
-crank seal
-cam seal
-oil pump seal

50/50 water/coolant
bled cooling system

car still does the same thing
no oil in coolant
no coolant in oil

whats left? radiator....
can a 10 year old radiator go bad all of a sudden
a lot of money was dumped on the car trying to figure out the cause of the overheating

im out of ideas after the radiator

Is the fan turning on?
Is there enough coolant in the system?
Maybe there is an air buble in the coolant system.

When did it start overheating, did it start after you replaced/serviced something(timing belt or something else)

Have you actually had the radiator removed and flushed? Make sure there are no blockages inside it. But also like said before, make sure the thermostat is installed correctly. Possibly have the coolant temp. sensor checked. perhaps it has gone bad.

For that if the engine is hot make sure when you use an electrical tester, that there no continuity between the terminals on the sensor, and if the engine is cold, that there is.

Also try checking your fuses. Maybe you just blew out the fan fuse.....

both fans turn on normally
when the temp gauge goes a little past the middle mark...the fans turn on automatically

nothing has really been done to the car prior to overheating

cooling system has been bled

when i flushed the rad....i left it on the car with both hoses disconnected
flushed it downwards and upwards
at first....it didnt flow very well
water was coming out slower than i was putting in
but after several times of pushing water up and down the rad...the flow got a lot better with lots of diposits coming out

i stopped flushing it when the flow was good and minimal diposits came out

how do you remove the radiator on this car?
(its not my car remember)
