I just bought a 2023 XLE Premium. I miss my 2015 Mazda CX-5 because it had a cd player. How do I install my new external cd player?
You don't/can't. Best to rip your music to your smart phone, then use Android Auto or Car Play to hear it. You could also rip it to an appropriate USB memory chip.

I lived in my 2002 Honda in-dash 6-disk CD player. (It also did cassettes and gave good AM. But no USB or BooToot or AuxIn.)

Playing MP3 files from phone or thumb-drive really is better. Track switching is instant. Track filenames show on screen. (There was a CD-ID thing but limited support.) 6 CD disks is 7 hours, I have hundreds of hours on a thumb that's not 10% filled. Yes 6 CDs is an all day drive but changing all 6 for the next day in one go took time.

Your only option for CD playback in the 2023 would be to purchase a Bluetooth/FM Transmitter external CD Player, there are a number on Amazon.

2019s had an Aux in port and the 2020 through 2022 had an Aux port "mod" you could do to add the port back in, however the 2023+ uses a new generation of infotainment that does not support this.
