Aftermarket remote start for RAV4 hybrid, possible stupid question.

If you’re in the USA, they pretty much all ship with remote start. (Especially an XLE Hybrid)

Press lock on the remote three times and on the third time hold the button down.

Alternatively, you can buy a long range remote, search google for options.

No, they don't. You must have the upgraded 8" radio, not the standard 7" system to have the factory remote start.
There are a few members on here that have reported it, but it seems like it’s always the LE. I haven’t really seen any XLE owners with the 7” radio.

According to the Fortin documentation for this vehicle, when using the T harness for the RAV4, you have to splice one wire to the hybrid ECU.

In the past when I installed Fortin you can configure it to use the factory remote. The Fortin documentation says that the factory remotes stay active when remote started. (Other car manufacturers like VW disable the factory remotes when the car is started, which is significant because you can’t unlock the car without a third party remote for VW - Toyota has no such limitation.)
