I had one installed on my 06 base. Check my album. Looks and works like OEM, and it's covered under my extended warranty.

Things have changed since the days of the old leaky pop ups, so much so that many of the aftermarket sun roofs are better than some orig (work smoother, quieter and have better seals). They are manufactured and installed as a unit, meaning the frame, glass and all mechanicals are a self contained unit that drops into the opening. The installer has to do a good job of cutting so he doesn't have to repaint.

I not gonna say my aftermarket is better than an OEM, but I wouldn't say it's worse either.

I agree with dejazzee.

My dealer added one on my highlander via aftermarket. He used Classic Soft Trim for the install. It looked like factory and I had no problems with it.

Actually, it auto-closed when I turned the key off. I kinda liked it better than the Factory job on my RAV.

Of course, YMMV.

How much is the total cost for your aftermarket sun roof ?

I went to a low volume dealer, negotiated my price for the Rav, salesman found one I liked, and just when we were ready to close the deal I said, “I really want a sunroof, so throw one in and I'll sign the papers now.” My family has bought a half dozen cars from this salesman in the last 10 years so he could give a little, and besides, they make their money anyway.

It's listed on the invoice as NC (no charge). I asked him how much the installer typically charges, and he said it depends on the car but usually between $1000 and $1200 (US).

Crisp winters morning, sunroof open, cool clean air filtering in, heater on the feet, blond in the passenger seat....does life get any better :D
+1

I absolutely love having a sunroof, and most of my cars have had them. I use it year round for fresh air, even in winter. Some people don't like them cause they reduce headroom, and because they may eventually leak. I'm 5'11" but never had a problem with headroom, and the only sunroof I had that leaked was on my second car; a 1969 BMW 2002 that I owned in 1973, but it had 150k on the odo. Maybe I get rid of the cars before they leak, or maybe I'm just lucky.
