Hey y'all!

I was fixing my parking brake on my 2007 Rav4 limited and accidentally deployed my curtain airbags. I guess the old man was right about covering the battery terminals after you disconnect them...Anyways, I've purchased certified replacement airbags, a new Airbag Control Module, and both driver and passenger seat belt assemblies.
My process would be to disconnect the battery, remove deployed airbags, install new airbags, install seat belt assembly, install new ACM, and reconnect the battery. There was no impact to trigger the impact sensors, so I don't need to replace those. Is it as simple as it sounds or is there additional precautions I should take?

How did you manage do that? A simple way to adjust the parking brake was to just open the small panel under the parking brake lever and adjust the bolt to tighten the tension.

These are critical for safety so unless you have procedures to follow you should not attempt this. Do a search and find the procedures and don't go by guessing in your head. This way you will live another day to tell us you made a mistake.

I decided to move the ACM and the entire center console to make it easier for me. That worked well in the end right?

From the research I’ve done so far on RAV4world and replies on other forums, I was told to test the ACM to check the impact sensors and didn’t have any issues come up from that. The majority of replies were split 50/50 replace it myself / take it to a mechanic. All of the quotes I’ve received include airbags because they won’t use ones they don’t purchase even though I got certified parts. Given the importance of the airbag and the amount of liability on the shop if something happens, I understand.

Would a Factory Repair Manual be a good place to check? Maybe call a family mechanic for his opinion? I have a Haynes Manual, but there’s not much on airbags. If y’all know of any good sites please refer me.
