Android Auto Wireless Adapter

Can you folks school me on Wireless Android Auto Adapters?

1) What is the best one to get that doesn't cause lag during music playback and map use?

2) I understand the adapters use Bluetooth in order to communicate with my data port. Does this use data from the phone?

3) Does using these adapters increase battery drain? Do phones need to by plugged during longer trips: IE longer than an hour?

4) Is there any lag during initial connectivity events? Is is worse than when using wired Android Auto?

5) Finally, my wife's phone is an older LG G8X, I have a Samsung S22 Ultra. Which adapters work best with these phones?
1. I have an iPhone, so I needed CarPlay adapter, but the one I got does both: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B1TZZ9K3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There is a newer version of that as shown.

2. The adapter communicates with the radio via the wired USB port; there is no radio frequency connection from the adapter to the radio.

This adapter uses Bluetooth between your phone and the adapter for set up, but after it is set up, it uses a Wi-Fi connection between the phone and the adapter.

Whether you use data on your phone depends on what you are using the connection for. If you are navigating, for example with Google Maps, the phone will use your cell data to get the map info from the cloud. If you are just playing music that is stored on your phone, no data is used.

3. Again, depends on what you are doing. I use Google Maps a lot and that will drain the phone battery faster than if I don't use Google Maps. If you are just listening to music, the phone battery will not be drained more than if you are listening via ear buds or the like.

4. When I first turn on my RAV4, there is about a five second delay until CarPlay is connected. I see no data lag after it is connected.

5. Best to ask the vendor of the adapter which phones are supported.
