We bought our daughter a RAV4 XLE and we wanted to know if the rear view mirror can be swapped with an auto dimming one? Is there a wiring ready inside the box? Any plug and play mirror in the market?

I’ve been looking into this option myself, found a few candidates but since I just spent money on my radio upgrade will have to hold on a little for this mirror idea. So far I have found that maybe mirrors from a Lexus RX will work, just have to take time to compare plugs to see if it will be a direct swap. Aside from the Homelink I dont think they have any other features so I think it should be fine.

I believe mine has a connection to power the Garage Opener, I think it already carries power for the Auto Dimming function. I am looking into a Lexus mirror so its plug and play and I dont have to tap anything. I prefer to use original parts and try not to modify anything as much as possible. This way I avoid having any electrical gremlins in the future. But to answer, yes, I guess we could use any Gentex mirror if we tap some of the wires.
