So I am new to Toyota, and noticed the front axle nut is a star shaped thing. I have determined from the www they call this a 12 point axle nut, but am unsure how to decipher the size. My caliper tells me its approximately 31mm in diameter from the low points on the circumference, but thats a rough estimate since its hard to get the caliper in properly.

From a search it seems other gen's use a 30mm socket? Anyone test fit the size on their Gen5 yet?

I realize I have 5 years / 60,000 miles to figure this out - but any excuse to buy new tools. Maybe I should buy a whole set?

17 RAV4 LE AWD built in Japan...just hit 90K and L Rear bearing went out.

Digital calipers said 31.06 mm midway on the 12 pt axle nut. It shows to be a very, very slightly tapered axle nut.

1 3/16 Imperial/English 12 pt socket was a perfect fit. (Metric sizes were either too tight or too much slop.)
