My husband and I noticed that the driver blind spot detector stays on for a long time after a car passes us, it does eventually turn off but we thought it should turn a bit sooner. Anyone else have the same experience? Thanks in advance!

It should not stay on after car has fully passed you. Has it always been that way? If nothing is covering the sensors (snow, mud, etc.), then I would suggest having the dealer check it out.

Has the tail of the other car pass your passenger side door yet?

Yes the tail of the other car passed my passenger door. He was quite a distance ahead of me and the detector was still on.
