Hi all,

Quick question if you don't midn:

My sister's 2003 rav4 was in a fender bender. Part of the intake vent/cowl which is at the base of the windshield - broke off.

So there's this big hole there now.

I'm worried about rain and water get into engine area. There's a battery top left area too near this hole.

Should I go to junkyard and see if I can find one? Cowls online cost almost $300. Maybe a DIY fix? Looks like the cowl is in 2 parts - driver/passenger.

pic attached. Broken piece is on passenger side.

Forget about water leaking into the engine compartment. Worry about it leaking into the passenger compartment. That is the air intake area for the A/C and heater. Replace that cowl!

Hey I have the same problem, missing on the exact same side. My ste-dad who is certified and works at a Chevy dealership said not to worry too much about missig cowls, rain won't hurt th engine or anything like that.
I went to a salvage yard to find one too but all they had was a mangled 1997 that didn't fit. Oh well. I'll get to it eventually.
