Hey everyone,
I’m looking for a rear Diff with limited slip (LSD) for my RAV4.1 from 1995. My Toyota dealer told me Toyota can’t deliver anymore a LSD for my RAV4.1.
I know Toyota Germany sold the RAV 4.2 in Germany in the Limited (2000-2003) and later in the Executive (2003-2005) edition with LSD’s. (OEM part number: 41110-42031).
When I was looking at Toyota parts catalog I found the no longer deliverable LSD for my 1995 RAV 4.1 has the OEM part number 41110-42020 subs to 41110-42021. This was build from 1994 until 1997. From 1998 until 2000 the LSD had the same OEM part number as the LSD for the RAV 4.2. starting in 2000.

In the repair manuals from Toyota for the RAV 4.1 and 4.2 I checked the dimensions of the rear gear kit (diameter, ratio) and they are equal. The Type number is equal F17TA with LSD and F17SA without limited slip.
My question: Does anybody know if the LSD with the OEM part number 41110-42021 (RAV4.1) can be replaced with the LSD with the OEM part number 41110-42031 (RAV4.2)?
My doubt is they changed a little in the outer dimensions. Has anybody experience in building a rear diff from a RAV4.2 in a RAV4.1?
Thanks for your help

Sounds like a great project, I've read a few other posts about differential work, a quick search should provide some answers.
