OK so I'm looking for the more low profile bull bars/grill guard for my 97 toyota rav4. Not westin safari bars because they don't make brackets to fit my car, which is stupid. That is the look I'm going for however. I do not want the full on grill guard that covers the headlights and all. Does anyone know of a brand that sell the bull bars & the brackets for 97 rav4

p.s the attached picture is what I'm kind of looking for.

What is the application for the bull bars?
What purpose do they serve?

It is also useful as a mounting platform for lights, aerials etc.
Unfortunately, this bull bar / grille guard / A-bar seems to have been discontinued from the official manufacturers (Westin, Blackhorse, and Truckchamp offerings seemed identical to each other).
However, you can still find them on Amazon, or Ebay. Search for Westin 30-0005 (black powder coated) or Westin 30-0000 (stainless steel, more expensive). The hard part is to source the mounting brackets to fasten the bar to the vehicle.
Westin's part number is 30-1015 but you won't be able to find them. Mensajero's photos of these brackets could help you fabricate some of your own: http://www.rav4world.com/forums/84-4-1-accessories/150129-westin-safari-bar-30-0005-a.html (posts 8 and 9). The following post depicts the mounting location and the specifications of the necessary bolts:

EDIT: I just found this site that claims to sell mounting brackets that SHOULD be suitable:
Toyota Rav 4 Black Horse A-Bar Safari Guard Brackets
EDIT2: Same site, correct part number:

Do inquire though before paying.
