I installed yet another oem timing belt and water pump with seals and tensioner/idler pulleys. I follow the procedure to set tension for belt that states to rotate 1 7/8 turn and reset tension. This always leads to belt slap on cover. This is the second motor that I had to rotate engine two full turns and actually rotate camshaft pulley counter-clockwise slightly and use my fingers and pull up on tensioner to get no slap sound. Is this normal industry standard now?

I hear no whirring and it drives great... just wished that the spring would set correct tension. I have now installed three in a row this way!
