Vroooom!!! Looks about the same as Edmund's numbers -- they got 15.16 seconds at 91.15 mph... Course they also tested the RAV4 at an altitude of 1100 feet! :D

A 2001 squeaked the quarter at 16.7 seconds and 80 mph, so that's a huuuuuge difference! I wouldn't expect the 2004 to be much faster.

Unless I am missing something 16.7 for an i4 and ~15secs for a v6 is not a huge difference

04's and 05's have the 2AZFE...161 hp and 165 ft lb tq. motortrend has 16.1 is the 1/4 time for it. 0-60 in 7.7 sec 8)

p.s. high 16's and low 15's is HUGE for the 1/4 (.1 sec is a car length  ). a comparison you might understand...0-60 in 7 sec vs 10 :!: .

granted the 06 has a V6

This must be with a manual transmission. Do you have a link?

Even a fraction of a second at the quarter mile makes a WORLD of difference in terms of performance. For the V6 to shave almost 2 full seconds off the 4-cylinder's quarter is pretty amazing.

To put it in perspective, here's a bunch of other Edmund's tests:

Car ** 0-60 time (seconds) ** Quarter Mile (seconds @ mph)
2002 Acura RSX Type-S ** 6.7 ** 15.2 @ 92.7
2001 Celica GTS ** 6.9 ** 15.4 @ 91.6
2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT ** 7.2 ** 15.7 @ 89.2
2005 Mazda RX-8 ** 7.0 ** 15.43 @ 92.7
2005 Ford Mustang GT ** 5.7 ** 14.31 @ 102.3
2005 Nissan 350Z ** 5.9 ** 15.59 @ 99.3
2004 Porsche Cayenne ** 5.9 ** 14.28 @ 99.59
2000 BMW X5 ** 6.8 ** 15.3 @ 90.4

So, as you can see, the 2006 RAV4 V6's times are in VERY GOOD company! :D
