mobil 1 is crap sorry guys hope u know a while back there is a law suit about them calming they are fully synthetic, but as you state for normal driving and normal oil change you aint going notice anything. when i use to run royal purple in my other car i do notice when the oil gets dirty your engine gets a little sluggish doesn't rev as fast or high. ELF was pretty good back then can't seem to find it, redline was not bad, favorite is going be motul & amsoil. castrol is mobil 1, currently right now i am using idemitsu oil.
and to fully compare oil filters you would need to buy several filter brands then cut them open to compare how the filter media was built how thick, long, how many fins, then also test the pressure of the internal spring to compare to factory.

alot of company use them like i said if your using your car normaly it aint going matter, yes mobil 1 is crap compare to other brands and didn't u read the law suit part ? how is comparing oil equate to comparing a company ??

yes, I've stopped using it for about that long lol why i also said they might have changed but i just never bothered since there is so many other brands now if i have to pay for it i would rather try out different brands. for my rav4 to be honest if it was free i don't mind if my car was given that oil or any synthetic now since i change it more frequently.

Free oil filter, yes. Engine air filter, no. Reason: Toyota provides free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles. If my memory serves me right, the engine air filter is not "scheduled" until 30,000 miles. really i thought it was at

thats crazy long time lol i changed mine usually during every oil change cabin filter also good to know.
i just recently did mine the oem filter says denso usa and the new one from the dealer is denso japan i thought it would be the other way around.

Thanks for posting that interesting older North American Motoring thread--it made some good points about Group III and PAO oils. However in that thread those guys were looking for oils they could use in Minis and only change at yearly intervals and high miles back in 2006. Since nowadays in our 5th gen RAVs knowledgeable people are using 5K mile oil change intervals we really don't need to get exotic and expensive group IV and V oils. TGMO or Mobil 1 AFE (advanced fuel economy) or EP (Extended Performance) are plenty good enough.

agree with you 100% it was just since we were sharing each others experiences with oil i thought i would just share some of my experiences.

Are those the present OEM ICE engine air filters in your photo? My 2021 gas model OEM filter is RED color! I wonder if there has been a filter medium change and whether the filtration rate is now different.

i changed it last week i got the filter from a local toyota dealer i tried to order it online it says disconnected but when i got to the front service desk they told me yah thats what it says but for some reason they have it in stock lol and its $37-38 even with the discount it come out to be $27. i forgot to count the fins on the old filter but the new one i counted 110 fins might have missed 1-2.

Oil doesn't cost that much so if you use superior brand that doesn't hurt your expensive car don't you think it would be much better? But if you are willing to accept free oil even though it is not as good then you use double standard and that oil is just as good as the the other brand. And how and why exactly you discover that other brands any better? Did you run each oil for 10K miles recommended by the manufacturer and then took the sample to the lab to check if it lost viscosity?

You be surprised superior oil does cost more. Had a 91 mr2 turbo with a 2gen 3sgte swap running Redline motor oil, I had a 2010 Prius i bought brand new did oil change at 10k till it had 128k miles no problems no leaks no oil consumption. Had a 2018 Camry hybrid LE driven till 60k miles before I sold it to get the RAV4 and done oil change at 10k at the time the Prius was using enos oil and the Camry was using idemitsu oil, Camry also found no oil consumption or leaks. Those are just the Toyota cars that I've gone through and it's been fine for me. I have other brands of cars also that I use different oil on. And we are here to share our oil experiences not bash on someone cause they don't like one brand vs another or they choose to change their oil at a quicker time than another.

So basically what you are saying all oils are good?

I am saying you can use whatever you want i am not going sit here and have a comparison about superior engine oil on a hybrid when it is used for normal daily use and the recommended oil change is at 10k and filter change is at 30k and you wanna change the oil at 5k but don't even care about the filter please. if you so concerned just change everything at 5k then buy the most expensive oil there is who cares what I say or anyone else cause when ever you hear something you don't like you automatically go into attack mode anyways until the other person agrees with you. This is just one persons opinion if you don't like it move on
