So you haver change your tires to a different diameter size. This will affect your speedometer readings for speed and milage. My 2019 XSE speedometer had a 2 MPH difference between speedometer display and actual MPH. So if the dash display shows 40 MPH it is really 38 MPH.

I checked with my OBDII and a software app for the iPhone iPad.There is cheap way to get a down and dirty way to check it. Use Waze app or any other navigation app that can display your speed using GPS. Then watching your speed on the dash display have someone check it on the device or if you have Waze on the infotainment screen it will show there.Google Maps will do the same. then holding a steady speed you can get the comparison.

With the new tires Falken Wildpeaks I saw difference of 1.5 MPH instead of 2 MPH. YMMV

where do I get techstream from ? >Toyota< plus $$$$

or go to dealer or toyota tech who has access and ask for them to recalibrate speedo
to match tire
takes 5 mins but you may get nailed for 1 hour labor
I have gotten my dealer to do techstream changes in settings when I go in for service. They have never charged me if it is something simple.

on my Yaris I use 14's for summer and 13's in winter. I use scangauges
on yaris, 4runner, and trucky....

so for Yaris I put a 'winter offset' in scangauge for speed to match the smaller wheels

but all these [except the 4runner...too old] I could program offset with techstream if I wanted

I did the Dr Dyno’s Speedometer Calibration Calculator. The results were 1.067 I also connected my OBDII and used the Car Scanner App that has the GPS MPH and the RAV4 MPH reading to calculate the difference and set the offset difference. The results of the OBDII was 1 a difference of 0.067 MPH.

I went to Falken wildpeak AT 2 years ago size 245/65/17's. I t was the biggest we can go on a Rav without hitting and noticed my speedometer is almost dead on now. Before I used to read 1.5-2 mph under my actual speed but now its perfect up to about 70 then it starts to creep up doing 71 while showing 70.

I'd like to know how you did that with a Scangauge 2. My R4P scangauge reads the correct mph, per my phone gps, but the car reads low. I'd like an accurate speedometer. I don't have techstream, and won't be buying it.

That's interesting - I had assumed the speedometer was calibrated to the XSE tire size of 235/55R19, because my SE with 225/60R18 tires always read 78mph with GPS, but 80mph according to the speedo. When I switched to 245/50R20, my speedo said 80mph but GPS said 81mph, just like one would expect if it was calibrated to the XSE size. It's odd that your XSE was off as well.

it's got a menu for it on the scangauge

search google for 'scangauge speed offset'
or just plow thru the settings you'll find it

The Toyota RAV4 is set to have a 2 MPH difference. So if what you see on the dash is actually 2 MPH faster than the actual speed.

I don't think they are all set the same. I put 245/60-18's on which should make it 4% too fast.... and when I checked it with GPS it was 4% too slow. So it must have been 8% out 👎. The dealership wouldn't even look at my car unless I put the factory wheels/tires back on which doesn't solve the problem of my new tires being out.

I reset mine using my OBD-II and the Car Scanner app and my iPad. I first tried it using the direction in the Car Scanner app by driving at 50 mph and having it set automatic speed calibration. It set it at 1. Which in testing was close using Waze which uses GPS to show speed and comparing it to my speedometer. I then used the Speedometer Calibration Calculator in and earlier posting and entered 1.067. tested again and it was right on the money when test using Waze and my speedometer. Waze would sometimes show some lag, but that could be expected.
