Earlier today my best buddy, a 1997 2wd 5 speed manual shocked me by suddenly making clunking/ thudding noises when at full turn under power.

Most likely not cv-joints as this started suddenly and is coming from both front left and right sides when turning left/right. CV joint failure is usu more a clicking in my past experience with a very old subaru.

I havent been on this site in ages as my rav has been the trouble free champ it is for many years now.

SOS to fellow ravers---pls give me some ideas as to what may be the issue.

ty in advance

I havent a clue man. I do have the Haynes manual and they mentioned this could indicate issues with the transaxle. There is no thudding until in right hand/left hand turn while in gear and under power. I tried coasting (out of gear) through turns and the thudding noise did not happen.

So I think power steering most likely ok? Thank you for your reply

Is fluid up to par? The reservoir gets stained and visual from the outside is deceiving
