Before I take my car in, I was hoping to understand the possible causes for this code.

I have a v6 2008 Rav4 that has the CEL, VSC and 4WD lights lit up on the front panel.

I have a scanguage that I hooked up to the OBDII port and it read Code P0011. (Camshaft Position "A" - Timing Over- Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1))

I understand there are possible causes for this code, but are all of these causes covered under powertrain? I am out of my limited basic warranty, but was wondering if the service done would be covered under the powertrain warranty, seeing as it mentions the camshaft Position and Bank 1.

Thank you for your help with this.

Thank you.

The reason I ask is because my powertrain warranty is still valid (5 years/50,000 miles I believe) but I would hate to bring it in to the dealership and have them fix the problem, only to tell me that the cause of the code wasn't a powertrain issue, but some other reason that wouldn't be covered under warranty. I was just hoping to learn more about this code, so I can arm myself with some information before I bring it in.
