From some online information, coefficient of drag for 2004/2005 RAV4 is 0.4, 1998 is 0.32, 1996-2000 RAV4 EV is as low as 0.28. How much is it for 1997 model?
I need this data to make on road dyno test to check torque curve.

i would think it's the same as the '98 model at 0.32.. the EV's look a bit lower so may account for the lower CD. but a higher CD for the '04-'05 model, i wonder why?

1997 RAV4 has the same body design as 1998. CD should be similar. But 0.32 seems too good to be true. 2004/2005 model is obviously more streamline than 1996-1999 model. 1997's CD is supposed to be greater than 0.4.
I remember CD for Ford Explorer is 0.45, low profile Toyota Camry is 0.33, Lexus LS300 is 0.30 which was claimed to be the best in medium size cars in late 1990s. 0.4 for current 2004/2005 RAV4 looks reasonable. In my view, 0.32 for 1997 RAV4 is very suspicious.

If anything it seems like it should be the other way around. The number I found online for the 2001+ model is Cd of 0.35, an d a couple of sources for that number said it had been reduced from the first-generation RAV. I would personally say 0.40+ for the old-style RAV. The original Forester, which seems like it would be more aerodynamic than a RAV4, had a Cd of 0.39.

One other way to try to estimate is to figure the coefficient of a brick. That is the CD of the Trooper I used to own. Chip the corners off that brick and now you will approximate the CD of the RAV...

mind you, you cannot judge the Cd of a car via inspection. Underbody effects, subtle changes, fins, even the wind shield wipers have dramatic effects on the Cd of a car. If the car has been waxed recently, it also changes the Cd of a car. it depends on how they calculate the Cd of a car, wether they use the dynamic simulitude of a similar model and scale from there or whether they actually directly test the Cd curve for that specific car. You need to find out whether the tests have been done by the same company too.....

My 0.02 cents.
