Coil Springs

Recently installed the Traxda strut lift paired with Eibachs. This strut lift was created to stack with coil springs for extra lift on Adventure/TRD models. I noticed that the rear sits a little lower than the front. My theory is the Eibach rear spring is being compressed further due to the coil spacer. Everyone knows Eibach springs are softer than Dendoff springs. I’m wondering if I switch my rear springs to Dendoff coils that it will fix the rear “sag” look and even the wheel wells out a little better. Is anyone running strut lift with Eibach front springs and Dendoff springs in the rear?

I run the Dendoff coils with a Ready lift kit, seems that my rear sits a smidge higher. It might help. I can post a better photo once I’m off work. However my back end has nothing in it, fully packed for a trip might even it out.

Eibachs are coming out with heavy duty springs, pretty much rav4prime springs I would wait for those, btw did you install the traxda kit yourself? Was it hard to drop the front subframe? Looks real good

Very sweet looking rig, I love the topography lines. Since early spring I've been working with Dendoff to test on-road performance for more spring options. Their original offering was 310lb/in, we just worked out some details for a 255lb/in spring that I've been on for about 6 weeks now, and we're planning to make one more that's down around 210-220lb/in, which I think is what Eibach's is currently. I only have delta measurements against the OEM springs so I'm not sure how they compare directly to Eibach's but if you can tell me how much lift you gained from OEM to Eibach I can try to fit that into the data I have and get a recommendation for you. How much weight do you add when you load up for a trip?

The spring will expand as much as it can based on the weight applied to it, it won't stay shorter just because the coil spacer is present. The difference will come out of your control arm angle. How is your alignment in this current configuration?

I’ve heard of Eibach prime springs coming out but want to see how they compare to Dendoff before deciding which ones to go with. I did install the kit myself. It wasn’t hard, it mostly was just time consuming. It took about 7 hours or so to finish.

I believe I got 1.5” in the front and 1.4” in the rear when I only had the Eibachs on. Alignment is all in spec.

Just wondering were you able to put back the oem plastic covers underneath (oil pan and radiator covers) back on with the subframe being lowered now?

I haven’t put the plastic covers back on yet. Install took longer than expected so didn’t feel like messing with it at the very end. I’m going to try to put them back on so I’ll let you know. Planning on fabbing skid plates so not a huge deal if they don’t go back on for now.
I know this is about coil springs but I really gotta ask because your rig is sitting nicely. Where’d you get the rear ladder from? Only thing I have been seeing is RNOfit and I really don’t like the way they fit. That looks like a better design, even from the side.

It’s made by Nashfabco. It was about $400. It’s the lightest ladder on the market currently. Not sure if it was just my ladder or others too but it had a bit of a stability problem. Bottom outer bracket that attaches to the bottom of the hatch was larger than hatch and the top bracket where the ladder hooks in on the top bracket, wobbled. I did a temp fix by adding rubber to the bottom outer bracket and where the ladder hooked in to the top bracket. Other than this issue, it’s been awesome. Wasn’t my first choice, but looks really nice and didn’t break the bank. I tried getting a Rnofit but they stopped making them, also MBcustomfab had a nice modular ladder but they stopped selling them as well.

The 255lb springs that I have in right now gave me +7/8" in the rear under my 140lb kit, so I'm +1.5" front and +2.1" rear. The only problem is length; currently I have my coil spacers removed because with them it would have been too high a lift and thrown alignment out just as bad as the heavy duty ones. I explained to Dendoff that they basically need to remove as much from the spring's height as the coil spacer is tall and then it'll be a slide-in fit for everyone. Different spring rate selection basically depends on how much weight you've added to the car, you don't want to over-lift for what you usually carry.

Asking for your experience & suggestions on the 255lbs rear springs for a TRD trim. I don’t want a lift, just stop the squat. TIA

Loving the 255s! I was also cancelling squat, not really going for a lift from them (already have a spacer lift installed). These springs gave me back what I lost due to gear weight and in the past couple months I've helped people move and gone on trips where I've loaded the Rav up and due to the higher spring rate I didn't lose much with the extra weight. Unfortunately I haven't heard from Mason for a while so I shot him an email last week to follow up, I'm really hoping he's still intending to make these available to all.

Thank you sir. I just ordered the 255s from Mason. Mason answered the phone. Mine was squatting with some gear, full size spare (fits perfect), O.E. hitch. That’s it and it squats. Gear is about 25lbs—if that. Can’t believe the TRD springs can’t handle this. With no one in the car either. I ruled out the Air Lift 1000 because it will leak sooner or later. Can’t imagine trying to fix an air leak in the winter.

Right on! The weight and distribution of gear changes for everyone but I think the 255s are going to help a lot of people out. My fully size spare also fits under the floor and has the added benefit of holding the panel up so it doesn't bend. I've never needed a spare bad enough to put it out on a hitch carrier and all that would do is sag even more.

Hey @Mr_Flux , if your not busy this weekend……wanna stop by and have some fun installing these?

Edit: Something has come up, so I won’t be installing these this weekend. Maybe next Friday. I’ll try to post pics of this endeavor. Anyway, shipping via FedEx was fast! Arrived today. Springs weigh 23lbs

Where you at? I might be able to! I had a pretty good system going for swapping springs in the driveway here, we have all the right tools.

I’m in the Yellowstone area in my bunker waiting for it to blow :ROFLMAO::unsure: Right now I’m at my Idaho property. Yes, near YNP. Where you at? Pacific Northwest? I appreciate the offer. I was joking, but…..
I have jack stands, floor jack, impact driver, 14mm, 16mm, 10mm sockets, wrenches, flat tip screwdriver. Torque specs? 66ft-lbs? Time—still looking, motivation—still looking. :ROFLMAO: I’d buy the beer, but I don’t drink:rolleyes: no really.

When you find that sweet combination of time and motivation you shouldn't have any problems with it, it's not too bad. I think my biggest tip would be using an internal spring compressor and lifting the control arm with the floor jack in an alternating pattern. Really helped snug it up in there and gives you enough space to finagle the knuckle bolts back into place. I have all the torq specs in my book, I'll dm that to you later when I can get to it. Yeah, I'm over sort of near Seattle area. I may not see the springs but if YNP pops you bet we'll all see that one.

Still trying to find time…..but I got started today. The TRD coil spring is 16”L and the coils about 1/2” thick. The Dendoff springs LS1, 255lbs/in were a little thicker and about 17-3/8”L +or-. Here’s a pic
Font Motor vehicle Automotive exterior Bumper Office supplies

While trying to do the left side I was constantly being interrupted by phone calls, changing meeting, appointments, etc. Got a little frustrated with that. Taking out the old spring was easy.

However, putting in the new springs—not so much. But, I got in and had to stop before doing the right side . Numbers I have are not accurate because the spring will have to settle and I need to finish the other side . Here’s what I got before and after. 31-3/4” Left side driveway to top of inner well., Right side was 32”, but driveway is sloped. After installing left side it went to 34”. That’s a 2-1/4” increase. Did not expect that. So now from top of tire to wheel well it’s 6-1/2”. These numbers are not accurate and the springs will need to settle. The left side is no longer squatting, however the right side is. Hope to finish tomorrow.
