Newer to Toyota, we recently traded in a Ranger for a Rav4. We didn't really need the truck part of the Ranger anymore and found the Rav4 to be a superior package to any of the similar current Ford models. Sometimes we tow a little Uhaul, nothing crazy. The Ranger actually towed very well for a 4cyl but it was a pretty harsh ride and the interior of the Rav4 is a huge step up.
Our Ranger had the spotter mirrors and those were really nice for both maneuvering around town and towing. Was looking for something to use on the Rav4 as the lights don't really help in those 2 aspects. The typical little stick-on ones suck pretty bad too.
Online I saw a number of mirrors for older Rav4s that had the spotters built-in similar to our Ranger. I saw nothing like that to fit the current model though. I would have even considered sacrificing the mirror indicator for mirrors if there were. This seems to be common on 4runners and Tacomas, which is mostly what I found, but nothing for the current Rav4.
After looking a bit deeper, I found a set of custom stick on spotters for the current Rav4. They are real glass and have an impressively clear view. The 3M adhesive is just thicker than the ring around the mirror. When you place it up in the corners, if you are careful not to press until it's full in position, it contours that ring pretty nice.
Looks pretty factory and functions well, and also keeps the monitor light in tact.
Took a while to find, but just what I was looking for
