Seems like the rav4 is a lot like the subaru outback: made specifically for old ladies who go to the park once a month but don't really drive off the pavement except in the farmers' market parking lot. I just replaced the left side cv shaft, bearing and seal on my wife's 2009 for the fourth time. Every time with overpriced toyota parts, it leaked fluid from the seal and made scraping noises. Now after the fourth time, it puked all the fluid in the driveway and the shaft is jammed and even though it wiggles, it won't come out. Those new, slightly used shafts and bearings don't bring that much as scrap.
