Im pretty sure it’s a Federal mandate to have the door chime and has been for a long time. You won’t find a solution in software.

You’ve jogged a childhood memory when my dad went under the dash of our brand new 80’s Tercel and found the beeper and unplugged it. Not so simple anymore.

I would imagine that it would be the same for the seatbelt chime (in terms of the federal mandate), and that one can be disabled.
LOL, wouldn't that be nice to unplug the beeper?

It's would be a wiring work around, but the chime goes away when the door is closed so jumper the door switch to simulate a closed door.

This would be a hard core work-around since now the computer doesn't recognize the door being opened.

I swear I saw a video once that showed pressing the button in the door jamb would silence the chime. And I swear I remember trying it back then and it worked. Now I can't find that and it doesn't work. 🤷‍♂️

I'm very confused by this topic. When is this happening? The only time I've heard persistent chiming is when I leave the car running (exceptionally rare for me) when I get out of the car. Does it just do this to you at all times for any reason?

I thought I remembered, reading the same thing and I believe it said you had to push the button twice
Ah, found it!

Can't believe the posts on Rav4World where someone asks how to defeat a safety device on their Rav.

Latest ones:
How do I defeat the door safety chimes?
How do I defeat the frost safety warnings on the dash?
How do I aim the LED headlights higher(thereby blinding even more drivers) because I don't know how to use the auto-hi-beams?

Etc, etc.

The 2009 BMW X3 I had started chiming when nobody was in the passenger seat. This would only happen when the interior was really hot. I would connect the passenger seat belt and the chime would stop. I ask BMW to check this out and they first said that it was the pressure sensor in the passenger seat. That required a full leather seat base cover to be replaced. Good thing I was still under warranty. They replaced it but it was still happening. They couldn't figure out what was happening so they somehow connected the vehicle to BMW in Germany and it ended up being a defective sensor on the new seat cover. They replaced it again and all was good. The only issue I had from then on was the new leather cover wasn't as good of a fit as the original. All history now since that vehicle got totaled which is why I have a RAV4 now. Much cheaper to maintain.

I wonder if this would help you:
has anybody tried this on the RAV4 prime? I never got the on off light to appear. I think I’ve been doing it right but I’d love to get rid of that seatbelt noise and our little community. It’s about 3/4 of a mile to the mailbox and the seatbelt can be a real pain. Thank you.
