I recently purchased a used 2006 4wd, i4, base model RAV4. I discovered that I need to change out most of the fluids as they haven't been changed in the vehicles 105k mile life (as well as some other general maintenance). Since I like to research the jobs before I do any vehicle work, I've compiled quite the list of threads and YouTube videos that will help me, and will hopefully help you as well. I want to mention that I didn't create any of these DIY's, I'm just putting them in a central location. Hopefully this will help out the next person who needs to hit the ground running with their RAV!

If you have any other good DIY guides, post a link! The search function for the forum is great (its how I found most of these), but its also nice having a central location for a lot of the common guides.

Surprisingly there is very few youtube videos for the transfer case and differential for a Gen3 model.

A note I wanted to pass along about the transfer case and the rear differential - Those drain and fill bolts are really set. I sprayed all four with penetrating oil to help break them loose and I still had to use a ton of torque. I used a 10 mm hex wrench and wedged the end into the circle end of a large combination wrench. I had to do this for each bolt and then pull (with steady pressure) as hard as I could. They all broke free with a "snap"! Each time I was worried I broke the hex wrench, but it was just the bolt releasing.
