When I bought my rav4 2012 used it had wear marks on the side of the drivers side seat. I was told it was normal. Now about 8 months later the foam feels destroyed under the side of the seat.

I bought a steamer to try to bring it back to shape. Not sure if it will work. Anyone ever try? Im suspecting the dealor already did this instead of replacing the foam that being the reason it went south so quickly.

Any good writeups on replacing the cushion and how to do it cheap?

Take it to a good auto upholstery shop. They can make it better than original for a lot less than the dealership.

What JuneBug said. A good shop! Believe me, the wrong foam or wrong fit can be very painful after a short while.

Using a steamer might help rejuvenate the foam a little but I doubt it can bring back the original shape. Your best bet is going to a local upholstery shop.
