Recently had my RAV in to the dealer for an AC problem I didn't feel like troubleshooting myself and while they had it, they performed the ECU reflash TSB (without asking, naturally).

Had a weird thing happen on the freeway yesterday. Ran out of gas, which has never happened before. Admittedly, the needle was right on the "E" line...but I've run it significantly below that (yes, I'm that guy) countless times in the past 130K miles with never a problem. This time the needle hit the "E" line and didn't go any lower, so I thought I still had some miles to go. The wife was less than thrilled...

Would the ECU reflash cause this change? I'd just like to know if this is the new "normal" for that gauge.

If you're talking about the re-flash for the SmartStop feature, I had mine done 3 years ago and there was no effect on the fuel gauge. It may just be a coincidence. The float may be stuck.
