Hello. I just purchased a 2017 Rav4 hybrid. Very impressed with the vehicle and after extensive research, it's the only vehicle that fulfills the majority of my needs. However, I can not seem to find any official/formal written documentation that this vehicle does in fact have the more robust/reliable Toyota eCVT (planetary gear CVT) vs the belt drive cvt found in most other cvt vehicles. I have read where a couple of people say it does have the planetary gear eCVT, but really haven't seen anything in writing from Toyota. Just want to relieve my mind about my purchase concerning long term reliability and light towing capability (occasional small u-haul or tent camper). I would ask at the stealership, but I've found most folks there have limited knowledge and/or give false information. Anybody here absolutely sure that the 2017 Rav4 hybrid does in fact have the planetary gear CVT transmission? Thank you. I look forward to being a new member here and learning more about my Rav4.
