Hi Guys,

Just got my 2001 Rav checked out by the local dealer after my engine check light came on. They confirmed - after a bit of prodding - that the fault was 'catalyst efficiency below threshold', as covered in TSB EG010-02.

Question is - has anyone in the UK managed to get this sorted out free by Toyota when their car is out of warranty?

I am pretty annoyed that I may have to pay for the dealer to update the ECU when Toyota have known about the fault for 4 years?!? :x

Thanks

Stephen

!

Here in USA, I had my check engine light problem fixed at 53k miles (per the TSB). They did not charge me anything. I have no extended warranty on the vehicle.

No, I have owned my RAV from new since yr 2000 and have not experienced the problem showing the emmision fault. I however, have complaint to the dealer about the car being so irresponsive and they said they have resetted and reflashed the ECU with new data. This was done 2 yrs since I bought the car in yr 2000.

So i'm not sure if I have the updated software or not.

I think Toyota is terrible at sorting problem out, especially in the UK anyway.
