First Impressions:

We bought a 2006 RAV4 base model new and it now has 110,000 miles on it. It will be going to our son next month so I decided to get another RAV4 as my daily driver. I didn't want all of the new safety stuff and push button start so I found a 21,000 mile 2015 Red XLE and bought that. I don't drive that much because I have a fun car 2013 Dodge Challenger RT Classic for nice weather.

From a base 2006 RAV4 to now a 2015 XLE I have to say it is quite an upgrade. Everything about the RAV4 is much better and refined. The engine and transmission upgrades are much welcomed. It drives and handles much better.

Must have been an I4 otherwise the Dodge Challenger RT wouldn't have been as much fun by comparison. :wink

2006 2.4 liter with 4 speed auto
2015 2.5 liter with 6 speed auto

Ya wouldn't think it would make much of a difference but it seems more than a one tenth of a liter difference. I always thought that the '06 was very slow at taking off and weak.

You should really test drive a 2006 with the V6 engine. It's like a whole other vehicle.

Yep!! The V6 is "HOLY CRAP" :surprise  :egad::smile  at takeoff!! And with 4WD the road surface doesn't even matter.

Those 2 extra gears should make quite a difference with performance.

2006 2.4 liter with 4 speed auto
2010 2.5 liter with 6 speed auto
2008 v6 with 5 speed auto

^^ Our 3.5L v6 Limited is like a muscle car, in 1/4 mile performance...expect under 14.0 seconds.
- if it wasn't discontinued, like to test drive the 269 HP, with a 6 speed auto
- and watch slightly improved gas mileage, driving conservatively
