I just ordered the Fitcamx from Amazon Canada for my 2023 R4P and am wondering how easy it is to remove the cover ? It looks like it’s it’s on there pretty solid but hopefully with a little pressure it will snap out.

grab the whole thing and slide it downward and parallel to windshield so it
pops loose (about 1/4 inch) and will hit the mirror stalk.
once the whole cover is loose you can reach in and pop off the smaller insert piece surrounding the
mirror stalk, then it all comes off.

I considered this model for the new SE, but not convinced I have anything to plug it into on the SE and thus would be a waste. Will have to remove the cover to look first I guess.
Also the front headlamp turn signals are not in on the front of the headlights but on the back more to the side and have no clue how to access them if I want to change the blinkers to LED ones.

The fitcam plugs into the camera power that is by the rear view mirror. This camera is used by lane keeping and auto high beams. All R4P have this camera.

I read a few reviews of the Fitcam that mentioned it either stopped working after a short time, was difficult to get the video clips from it, or stopped the Safety-Sense features from working because the pigtail connector was crappy quality.

Anyone experience any of these things?

You have to use continuous loop sd card for multiple recordings. My recording mirror didn’t save vids and it started working properly after I used this one
Micro sd cards for cameras have to be very good quality SAN disk ultra or extreme

Not me. Mine hase been working flawlessly for the past 3 months. I only downloaded footage a few times just to test it out. I did it throught my phone and also by removing the card to download direct to my computer. both ways were easy.

Installation. I had planned on it taking 30 minutes or so, and I was done in less than 10. It took me longer to take it out of the packaging and watch a YT video than it took to install.

Good to hear the positive experiences here. Still waiting for my R4P to arrive but I'm thinking I will give one of these a try. Right after I wrap the pedestrian warning speaker in a ton of soundproofing.

One thing I did find regarding access the FitCamX, if you have a wireless CarPlay adapter installed and connected, it appears to interfere with accessing the FitCamX. Not a big issue for me, I usually take the SD card out and access the files on a computer. By the way, I updated the SD card in mine to a 128GB.

This is the one I'm using:

I installed a Fixcam in my 21 XSE. I have the front and rear cameras installed. Currently, I use the adapter to take power from the rearview mirror connector and I have not had any problems. I will be changing that in the future because you need a direct connection to power the unattended mode.

I have had the same thought so I put the cable in my Amazon wish list:
